Hello Josh,
Ok, just to explain. We are VSPP and Microsoft SPLA Partner and we start hosting business on the 1. Of August.
All Hardware is fully redundant and in place for over one year and working great.
We have 5 ESX hosts in a cluster with 256 GB Ram and 32 Cores per Machine for the beginning with 3 HP P4500 iSCSI Storages on 10GBe.
Now my sales team comes in telling me we need a very small business solution like 1-3 Users and it must be cheap.
So we had this standalone host idea, described above basically still attached to the same vCenter and it also has the 10GBe connection to the storages, but we use local storage on this machine.
For this we offer now VMs hosted on single hosts without DRS and HA that are typically Server 2008R2 or 2012 RDS Server for 1-3 Users. We don't think about HA and DRS on these low budget machines and for 1-3 Users most of the time it is ok without these features.
This is why I am asking and I want to get most out of the machine, because I want to give this product away for an attractive starter price which only works if I can host at least 30 Servers per machine what should be possible without problems.
So I would go with a 24 drives Raid5 and 1 hot spare, or should I go with 2 x 12 drives and a hot spare?
FBWC is there, right now with 50% read and 50% write cache.
In total we have 2 GB of Cache on the controller.
I would change that to 100% write cache, what do you think?
Best thing is to create one LUN per Customer, right?
